The short answer: 19, with photo ID
The legal vape age in BC is 19. That is provincial law under BC's tobacco and vapour rules, and it applies to every vape product we sell - devices, e-liquid, disposables, and coils. At MooseVape we check government-issued photo ID at the door and at the counter, every visit, no matter how old you look. If you are 40, bring ID anyway. It is faster for everyone.
What ID actually counts
Government-issued photo ID means exactly that. Any one of these works:
- BC driver's licence or a licence from another province
- BC Services Card with photo
- Passport - Canadian or foreign
- BCID - the provincial photo ID card for non-drivers
- Canadian Forces ID or a permanent resident card
What does not work: student cards, photos of ID on your phone, expired documents, or a friend vouching for you. If the document is not government-issued, valid, and showing your face and birthdate, we cannot accept it.
Why we card this hard
Two reasons. First, it is the law - BC's Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Act sets the rules for age-restricted sales, and retailers are the enforcement point. Second, being a proper 19+ specialty shop is what lets us stock the full range in the first place. In BC, the complete flavour selection is only legal inside age-restricted specialty stores, which is why our e-liquid wall looks nothing like a gas station shelf. Carding every person, every time, is the deal.
What to expect when you walk in
All five MooseVape locations run the same way, 24 hours a day:
1. Have your physical ID ready near the entrance.
2. We check it - takes about five seconds.
3. Browse as long as you want and ask anything. First visit questions are the ones we like best. Our FAQ covers the common ones.
Shopping for someone else? They need to be present with their own ID. We cannot sell to anyone buying on behalf of a person we have not carded.
Common questions, quick answers
- My ID is expired but it is clearly me. Expired means not valid. Bring a current document.
- Can I order online and skip the ID check? No. MooseVape is walk-in only, no online sales or delivery, so every purchase happens face to face with an ID check.
- Do you scan or keep my ID? We look at it, we hand it back. That is the whole process.
- Can I bring a friend who is under 19? No. Like every 19+ specialty vape shop in BC, the store itself is age-restricted, so everyone who walks in gets carded, browsing or buying.
